What
to Bring
For one-day trips, bring lunch and drinks for your group. On multi day trips, food is furnished by "Hey Babe" Charters; passengers however, should bring drinks for their party. Expect to enjoy fresh seafood dinners on the overnight charters. Don't forget to pack sunscreen lotion, a hat, sweater or jacket, boat shoes, and sunglasses. Do not bring coolers; a cooler will be furnished for your drinks.
You may want to consider bringing along a camera to capture the beauty of the Gulf. There’s always the chance passengers could see some of nature's endangered species, often seen on these waters, such as sea turtles, manatee, osprey, and eagles. Deep-sea creatures such as octopus, eels, sharks, porpoise and other sea dwellers are also often encountered. The abundant beauty of the Apalachicola area will be a memory you will always cherish..
No
Bananas
It may be an old wives tale, but it's a fact that bananas are
bad luck on a fishing charter boat. History tells us that this tale
originated from early years when boats with bananas in the cargo,
ran aground, got lost at sea, or lost many of their crew members
to a deadly sickness. Further investigation indicated that the bananas
were prone to carry tarantula spiders. Today, we believe the bananas
are safe, but just to make sure that we have a great day in the
beautiful Gulf waters, let's leave the bananas home.
Where
to Stay
There are many hotels and fish camps in the area. On nearby St. George Island there are rental houses, motels, and condos available on the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. We can recommend lodging to suit your needs.
