"Hey Babe" is a 46-foot Sportfisher, custom built to fish the distant offshore grounds of Apalachicola, Florida. She was built by the Newton Boat Company in Slidell, LA and was placed into service in November 2001. Her net weight is 12 tons, she has a 16-foot beam and draws 3 feet. She is powered by twin 450 horsepower Cummins diesel engines and cruises up to 30 miles an hour. She has two helm stations with hydraulic steering. The vessel is operated as a "six pack", in compliance with Coast Guard regulation. The boat has the latest state of the art electronics including 32 mile dual radar, dual Furuno GPS with chart plotter and C-Chip Map, dual Furuno color video sounder, single side band radio and dual VHF radio.

The cabin contains a large dinette and galley, three private cabins with two bunks in each cabin. There are two heads with a stand up shower. "Hey Babe" is equipped a 9 kW diesel generator, built in refrigerated storage, and heat and air conditioning.

The roomy cockpit has a built in bait freezer and bait rigging station, a live well, and two insulated fish boxes. There are 12-volt receptacles for electric reels.

You and your party are welcome to enjoy the view from the fly bridge at anchor or under way. There are ample settee for your use.

Depending on weather conditions, "Hey Babe" will be operated from either the lower salon or from the upper fly bridge, allowing the guests to never be far from the activities of the Captain and crew. Both steering stations are equipped with VHF radios, color chart plotters, auto pilot and radar.

Safety features include both adult and child life jackets, EPRIP, life raft, engine room fixed fire extinguisher system, halogen deck lights, portable fire extinguishers, automatic bilge pumps with high water alarms and 2 front emergency hatches.

TACKLE

"Hey Babe" is equipped with excellent tackle, such as Penn International reels, size 20 through 80 wide, which are mounted on custom rods that were specially made for offshore trolling. High quality Penn reels are used for inshore trolling for King Mackerel, Grouper, and other near shore species. "Hey Babe" has 33-foot outriggers set up to fish 2 lines each. Rods with electric reels are available for bottom fishing. All tackle and bait is furnished at no extra cost. If you have a favorite rod and reel, feel free to bring it along.
